Training Objectives

Management 101 – An interactive course designed to give managers a fundamental understanding of management techniques as well as the practical application of these techniques.  The course provides interactive case studies where participants are provided management challenges to solve. The case studies provided can be customized to your organization.  Additionally, the course can be customized to incorporate your firm’s values or expected behaviors as well as specific messages in terms of who to speak to or call when dealing with difficult or delicate management issues.

The course is between 2.5 and 3 hours depending on the class size and participation.  A minimum of 5 participants is required and up to 20 can be accommodated.  The 20 are broken into 4 groups of 5 participants.  An outline of Management 101 is available upon request.

Interviewing Skills Training – Core Skills – A course that is a mix lecture and interactive dialogue, this course will provide the basic dos and don’ts of interviewing as well as providing an understanding of the legal pitfalls of interview questions.  This course provides your interviewers a basic framework of how to structure an interview, how to ask questions and how to get information that will actually allow them to make an informed decision regarding the candidate.  Individuals will leave this training with sample questions covering motivation, fit, team orientation, passion, etc.  The course can be customized to incorporate your firm’s values or expected behaviors as well as specific messages in terms of what you look for in a candidate.

This course is approximately 2 hours in duration depending on the size of the group and the participation level.   A minimum of 5 participants is required and up to 20 can be accommodated.  An outline of Interviewing Skills Training is available upon request.

Conducting An Employee Performance Discussion – A course that is primarily lecture in nature although highly interactive, this course will not only prepare the individual responsible to conduct this conversation but will also provide various scenarios that could be encountered and how to deal with them.  Special attention is paid to difficult discussions and participants will receive “scripts” identifying the various responses they will get from an employee and suggested approaches and dialogue to both diffuse the situation and get the conversation back on track.   Your managers and supervisors will walk out of this training knowing how to prepare, how to manage the conversation and how to follow-up.  This course can be customized to incorporate your firm’s values or expected behaviors as well as specific messages that you may want incorporated into the performance discussion.

This course is approximately 1 hour in duration but could go longer depending on participant questions.  A minimum of 5 participants is required and up to 20 can be accommodated.

New Manager Assimilation – The New Manager Assimilation is designed to facilitate and accelerate the acceptance and effectiveness of a new manager just taking over a group.   The program is ideally done in one day usually over a 4-hour period of time on the first day or a few days before the manager takes over the group.  The program is broken into 2 parts, the first with the team members the second with the manager and team members.  Both parts are facilitated to maximize the success of the assimilation.   As we all know change brings uncertainty, impacts productivity and can generate employee issues.  Bringing a new manager into the organization or moving someone already in the organization into a new managerial role can be an extremely disruptive event.  This short but extremely effective program can minimize and in many cases eliminate the disruptive impact of a new manager.

Scaling the Training to Fit Your Organization
If the scale of your organization doesn’t favor groups of 5 or more we would be happy to discuss alternatives that could be provided. These alternative options will impart the same training.
